Testimonials

It is my honor & pleasure to introduce my good friend, Mike Cahoon. “Good friend” does not adequately define how I feel about Mike. Rather, Mike and I begin all conversations or communications with “brother”.

I met Mike about ten years ago. I wish I had met him thirty or forty years before then. That does not mean that we
immediately hit it off. Mike and I both share pretty fiery tempers if we feel that we are not being treated fairly. And early on, we had a few of those moments where we “crossed swords”. Very little blood was spilled, and both of us soon found a common bond of trust that grows each year. That shared bond of trust between us extends to the point that I feel Mike will fall on that same crossed sword for me, without hesitation. And I will do the same for him. The best of our relationship is that neither one of us has to raise our voice when there is an issue or problem. A phone call is made, and the issue or problem is handled. And if Mike says he is going to do something, without doubt, he is going to do it.

I like to be able to trust, and to be friends with my subcontractor partners. Mike makes it easy to be that trusted friend.

Mike owns Razor Construction, a turnkey framing contractor. I am Chairman/CEO and principal of Strategic Construction, a multifamily general contractor. I have never witnessed a better framing contractor. Period. As a point of reference, I have been in multifamily construction for fifty-two years and, needless to say, I have seen a lot of framing contractors. In fact, the first three decades of my career, we self-performed the framing operations. We had a pretty good framing operation during those years. Mike was at least an equal to our framing operation, and better in many other areas.

Without hesitation, and with all my heart, I highly recommend Mike and Razor.

It is an honor for me to express my belief in Mike Cahoon and Razor Construction.

Having been doing business together for over twelve years, you and your team have proven to be the most reliable subcontractor in the effort to bring a project to completion. From mobilization to completion of your scope of work, you always set the pace. This is a significant accomplishment and has always proven to be an impetus to our success.

The above is said, however your expertise and contribution to the overall construction effort is something that very few subcontractors can or have to ability to accomplish. As a team player you held the respect of all the other subcontractors as well. Not many men/companies ever achieve this.

The above statements represent my sincere respect and appreciation for your involvement in my efforts. Without you, I would not be where I am today.

Sometime in the 2000’s, Mike Cahoon came to my office asking for an opportunity to frame our multi-family projects. We sat down and began our discussion on expectations and performance. It turned out my connection to Mike Cahoon went all the way back to the 1980’s, when he was framing for the Developer I worked for at the time. It didn’t take long to validate Mike’s superior reputation and credentials, and so our journey began

Since that meeting, Crane Contracting Group, Ltd. hast conducted business with Mr. Michael Cahoon and his company, Razor Construction, Inc. on several projects. We have consistently entered into contracts with Razor Construction ranging from $1.5M to well over $6M. Razor Construction has successfully completed every contract promptly and without problem. Razor Construction has always furnished our projects with highly skilled and knowledgeable employees who have performed their work in a timely manner with quality workmanship.

Mr. Michael Cahoon is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of his business and Multi-Family construction in general, and above all that, he is an extremely honorable businessman and a man of integrity.

Crane Contracting Group, Ltd. has been in business since 1990, constructing commercial and multi-family projects. I would without any reservation recommend Michael Cahoon and Razor Construction to you.

President and Owner, Crane Contracting Group, Ltd.

I have conducted business with Mike Cahoon for over a decade now. During that time Razor has maintained the “Outstanding” Performance Rating given to them on the very first project in our business relationship.

Over the years I have found Razor to be a like-minded Team of Professionals, dedicated to their craft in every aspect of their business. Razor Construction, Inc. (RCi) has proven its worth as a Production-driven, Quality-conscious organization, whose commitment to General Contractor and Developer strategic goals has proven out time and time again.

The systems and procedures that RCi brings to a project are both impressive and requisite in these times, ensuring one less Scope of Work that a General Contractor needs to concern themselves with.

Mike’s lineage in this business puts him in the class of Industry Legends who pioneered stick-frame multifamily housing. Their volume of business is virtually unparalleled along with their Production capacity.

Whenever I launch a new project, Mike Cahoon is one of the first phone calls I make and I strongly endorse RCi as a requisite for any Construction Team being assembled. Heading into the stormy waters of these uncertain times, if there is one person that you want in your wheelhouse, it is unequivocally Mike Cahoon.

Razor was contracted by Pinkerton & Laws to manufacture and install a “Turnkey” truss, framing and siding package for a (3) three story, wood framed, 91 guest room Candlewood hotel. This project was completed October 15, 2007.

Razor, by far, executed the best “Turnkey” panelized framing package I have ever experienced. They were very diligent and responsive during design stage to ensure proper design and timely manufacturing.

The material arrived “On demand” without a glitch. It effectively cut down on the storage area required on site, materials that were subject to weather damage, waste, dumpster fees and time. We only had (2) dumpster pulls for waste lumber through top out of the building.

The front end coordination and preparation was very strong. They were ready to hit the ground running and everything went together well. It saved us time on the installation.

P&L runs a very stringent safety program. We were very pleased with Razors safety program and performance while on site.

Razor installed windows, siding, flashings and trim as well. Great attention was taken to ensure water proof assemblies and manufacture specifications were followed during these installations.

I believe Razor is well-deserving of this letter of recommendation. They worked hard and held up their end of the deal by performing a great “Turnkey” pre-manufactured job. We realized the benefits of a well-done panelized project.

We are currently contracted with Razor to do another similar project. This Hampton Inn is located adjacent to this Candlewood we just completed. I look forward to another successful project.

I have known Mike Cahoon for over ten years. During those years he has been a supplier, employer and subcontractor for me. The product and the personnel that Razor can bring to the table are very comprehensive and production driven.

The reason why Trammell Crow Residential is using a Turnkey panelized product is very simple.

A properly planned panel project depending all the size and design can save an owner as much as 45 days on a standard apartment building. Overall time savings can be substantial.

Razor is unlike most panel providers or Turnkey framers. They are a framing company that got into the manufacturing business because they wanted to have control of the product not a manufacturer that got into the framing business to sell their product.

As a conclusion I would highly recommend Razor and Mike Cahoon’s team. I am using them now and will use them in the future.

Vice President of Construction, Trammell Crow

As one of the largest home builders in the Savannah area, we traditionally use local carpenters and stick-frame our production housing.

In embarking on construction of a 210 unit apartment complex to be owned and operated for our own account, we made a determination to panelize our framing.

After careful cost comparison, we made the determination that panelized construction would guarantee quantity control of lumber, guarantee production timelines without impacting the rest of our business, reduce debris on the jobsite and assure consistency of the framing.

We interviewed several companies that offered the service and ultimately developed a relationship with Razor.

We found Razor to be both capable and professional in completing the task for which we hired them. At this point, all 35 buildings have been framed and at no time during the construction period did we have any problem with Razor that was not addressed to our satisfaction.

In conclusion, I would be happy to recommend Razor to anyone considering panelized construction.
